Using a Chameleon retractable central vacuum hose in a finished laundry room CHAMELEON®
RETRACTABLE

CHAMELEON® + CENTVAC

One hose.
More ways
to use it.

Pull it from the wall for everyday cleaning. Use only the length you need. Or use the adaptable Chameleon hose with standard central-vacuum inlets elsewhere in the home.

THE BASIC IDEA

Pull.
Vacuum.
Retract.

The hose lives inside the central-vacuum tubing. Use what you need, clean normally, then let suction return the hose to storage.

Pulling a Chameleon retractable central vacuum hose from the wall CHAMELEON® IN USE
01

PULL

Pull out only the amount of hose you need. Chameleon can lock before full extension for smaller cleaning jobs.

02

VACUUM

Use the built-in handle for quick pickup or attach the appropriate cleaning tool for floors, furniture, carpet or detail work.

03

RETRACT

Release the hose, cover the end and let central-vacuum suction draw it back into the tubing behind the wall.

RETRACTABLE, BUT DIFFERENT

Chameleon doesn't just store the hose. It changes how the hose can be used.

A built-in handle, dual sealing, intermediate locking and a unique hybrid option make Chameleon particularly interesting for homes that already have central vacuum.

01 / CHAMELEON VALVE

The hose
lives here.

Each Chameleon valve can store up to a 50-foot retractable hose inside the vacuum tubing.

Depending on the floor plan and valve placement, one hose can provide cleaning coverage for up to approximately 2,200 square feet.

UP TO 50' Hose stored inside the wall
UP TO 2,200 SQ. FT. Potential coverage per valve
MAGNETIC CLOSURE Clean finished appearance
AUTO SHUTOFF System turns off when stored

02 / 360° HANDLE

The handle
is already there.

Chameleon uses a full-size built-in 360-degree swivel handle at the working end of the hose.

For a quick mess, use the handle directly. For a larger job, connect a wand, brush, floor tool or powerhead.

QUICK CLEANUP? Pull. Pick it up. Retract.

ENGINEERED DIFFERENTLY

Pull less hose.
Keep the seal.

You should not have to pull the entire hose out just to clean one small area.

01

DUAL SEAL

Chameleon's patented dual-seal design uses two sealing points to help reduce air leakage and maintain strong vacuum performance.

02

INTERMEDIATE LOCK

The hose can lock and seal before it reaches full extension, allowing shorter hose lengths for smaller jobs.

03

LOWER FRICTION

A straighter hose path and low-friction internal components are designed to reduce drag and help protect the hose and hose sock.

04

AUTO OFF

When the hose is fully returned to storage, the system automatically shuts off.

THE CHAMELEON ADVANTAGE

Already have central vacuum?

Your existing wall inlets may still be useful.

ONE CHAMELEON VALVE + EXISTING CENTRAL-VAC INLETS = HYBRID SYSTEM
01

STORE

Install a Chameleon valve in a high-use area. This becomes the in-wall storage location for the adaptable hose.

02

REMOVE

When you need to clean elsewhere, remove the Chameleon hose from its retractable valve and engage the valve seal.

03

PLUG IN

Connect that same hose to a standard central-vacuum wall inlet already installed elsewhere in the house.

04

RETURN

When you're finished, bring the hose back to the Chameleon valve and retract it into storage.

WHY THIS MATTERS

You may not need to retrofit every inlet in the house.

Put retractable convenience where you clean most. Keep useful standard inlets where they already make sense.

03 / POWERED CLEANING

Carpet doesn't care where the hose is stored.

Retractable hoses don't carry conventional 120-volt power to the cleaning head.

A battery-powered wand and motorized brush solves that problem without requiring electrical conductors inside the Chameleon hose.

  • Rechargeable wand system
  • Motorized carpet brush
  • LED lighting
  • Swivel-neck maneuverability
  • Appropriate for retractable and low-voltage systems
Central vacuum power units

DON'T FORGET THE VACUUM

The hose may be different. The vacuum is still central.

The motor, filtration and debris collection stay away from the living space—typically in a garage, basement or mechanical area.

Retractable systems need enough airflow and suction to clean well and return the hose reliably, so power-unit selection should be based on the actual house and piping layout.

WHICH CHAMELEON?

Three ways to approach the house.

01

FULL RETRACTABLE

Retractable coverage around the house.

Multiple Chameleon valves can be positioned to provide retractable-hose coverage across the home.

BEST FOR

Homeowners who want the retractable experience wherever they regularly clean.

DESIGN FULL COVERAGE →
02

HYBRID RETRACTABLE

Retractable storage. Existing valves.

Use a Chameleon valve as the hose-storage location while keeping existing standard central-vacuum inlets elsewhere in the house.

BEST FOR

Homes that already have usable central-vacuum piping and wall valves.

USE WHAT I ALREADY HAVE →
03

NEW CONSTRUCTION

Design it before drywall.

Valve placement, hose length, tubing routes and power-unit requirements can all be optimized before finishes are installed.

BEST FOR

New homes and major renovations where the cleaning system can become part of the architecture.

PLAN BEFORE DRYWALL →

WHY CHAMELEON?

Less hose management. More flexibility.

01

NO HOSE CLOSET

The hose stores inside the wall.

02

360° HANDLE

A full-size working handle stays attached to the hose.

03

PARTIAL LENGTH

Intermediate locking allows shorter hose use without pulling the entire length.

04

DUAL SEAL

Two sealing points help protect suction performance.

05

AUTO SHUTOFF

The system switches off when the hose returns home.

06

HYBRID READY

One hose can work with a retractable valve and standard central-vacuum inlets.

ALREADY HAVE CENTRAL VAC?

Upgrade the parts that make sense.

Powerheads, brushes, tools and power units can often be upgraded independently of the in-wall system.

TWO RETRACTABLE APPROACHES

Chameleon isn't Hide-A-Hose.

Both systems store a long central-vacuum hose inside the wall.

The differences are in how the valve, handle, locking system and installation options work.

CentVac works with both, so the question is not which manufacturer wins.

The question is which system makes the most sense in your house.
